The Power of Story

By Jessica Disch

We all love a good story. Whether it’s funny, sad, powerful, or a little bit of each, stories are a huge part of how we connect with each other as human beings.

Recently, we had the honor and privilege of working with the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital to help tell the story of the Ruzek family. Last fall, Janna and Chad Ruzek rushed their son, Max, to Masonic. He was experiencing seizures for the first time in his young life.

We sat down with Janna, Chad, and Max to hear about their experience with Masonic and how it helped to diagnose and treat Max, who has now been seizure free for more than a year. On November 10, the video played at FashionFest, an uber-fun fundraiser event that supports the crucial, life-changing pediatric patient services at Masonic.

We hope that you enjoy the Ruzek’s story, and if you are compelled to get involved with Masonic, visit their website here.
