Q&A with Elizabeth Boger, Touchpoint Marketing Coordinator

By Tom Sellwood

Touchpoint marketing coordinator Elizabeth Boger spends her weekdays working on marketing and editorial projects for our sports and business clients and then jets off to exciting destinations on the weekends. Here’s a peek into her adventurous lifestyle.

You’ve been traveling throughout the US and around the world the past couple years. What is it about traveling and adventure that you love?
I love being spontaneous and making the most of time. My husband works in the airline industry, and we feel very fortunate to be able to fly standby and see the world. Sometimes we don’t know where we’re headed until we’re through airport security, which is nerve-racking and thrilling at the same time!

I’m all about crossing things off my bucket list, trying new foods and hiking — which we recently started documenting in our travel blog called Sunny and Raining, sunnyandraining.com.

What have been your top three favorite destinations so far?
It’s really tough to choose. Being able to travel to visit family and friends is always great. But I think my favorite destination so far is Switzerland. We spent a few days in the Jungfrau Region in early summer a few years ago, and it was the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. From hiking in the snow-capped Swiss Alps to waking up to the sound of waterfalls and cowbells in the Lauterbrunnen Valley—it was the most incredible trip.

The Hardangerfjord region of Norway is also at the top of the list. The scenery there is stunning. My ancestors came from Norway, so it was amazing to experience the Nordic culture and explore the fjords.

I felt like I took a step back in time during a weekend in Charleston, South Carolina. There’s just so much charm and history around every corner. It was neat to stroll down the cobblestone streets lined with 17th century mansions, visit Fort Sumter and eat the most delicious food I’ve ever had. Being close to the beach was also a plus.

When you’re not traveling, what do you do at Touchpoint?
As marketing coordinator, I work with many of our advertisers and synchronize projects between sales and creative departments. From coordinating the printing and mailing of magazines to helping our editorial team write stories—I love getting to be a part of so many different facets here at Touchpoint. I also grew up a hockey fan, so it’s fun to be involved in the sports industry.

Tell us about your love for Minnesota Gopher hock—excuse me, North Dakota hockey.
Go Sioux! I grew up in the small town of Colgate, N.D., about an hour or so southwest of Grand Forks, N.D., and started going to all of the University of North Dakota hockey home games with my family when I was about 8 years old. The passion for UND hockey up there is unreal.

When I attended college up at UND, I had a really cool opportunity covering the hockey teams for the Dakota Student newspaper. That’s actually where I met my husband, and we ended up having our wedding reception at The Ralph the same night North Dakota won its eighth NCAA national championship in 2016. It’s still so surreal. I love getting to travel to home and away games whenever I get the chance.
