New Hardware

By Tom Sellwood

Earlier this month, Touchpoint creative director Rob Johnson jetted to New York City for some QT with our head honchos, client meetings, and let’s be honest—pizza. He didn’t bring us back any (I guess you can’t check an XL pie), but he did pick up some new hardware at the 2017 Folio: Eddie & Ozzie Awards, which recognizes outstanding editorial content, design, marketing, and digital products.

Humblebrag: We had two finalists overall. One finalist for an Eddie (awarded for editorial), for Susan Caminiti’s wonderful cover story, “On the Move,” featured in the spring 2017 issue of thrive., a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota member magazine distributed to more than 200,000 Minnesotans, age 65 and older, and one for an Ozzie (awarded for design) for a custom publication redesign for the same issue of thrive.

Spring 2017 was Touchpoint’s inaugural issue after Blue Cross and Blue Shield tapped us to revamp the publication with elevated design, strong editorial, and outstanding imagery. Now on our fourth issue (thrive. is published four times per year—winter, spring, summer, and fall—and covers a range of health topics, from healthy aging to chronic conditions and more), we’re all very proud of the finished product, so it’s nice to be recognized by a national organization like Folio. But the true gratification comes from helping Blue Cross members thrive at all ages and stages of life.

“As we went about the redesign of thrive., we thought it was important that all aspects of the design—layout, imagery, typography, and more—reflected its vibrant readership base of more than 200,000 Minnesotans,” Johnson said. “It’s a proud moment to be helping our friends at Blue Cross share engaging content that empowers our neighbors throughout the state live healthier, happier lives.”

Thanks to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota for entrusting us with this publication. May we update our hardware again next year!
