5 Ways to Keep Your Office Culture Vibrant

By Jenn Alessi

A vibrant office culture plays an important role in attracting and retaining employees. Companies are always evolving, so taking the time to evaluate and maintain a positive working environment is imperative. Improvements in your workplace that promote consistency and positivity will only help increase productivity.

If you’re not sure where to start, here are a few tips.

1. Set goals. Be clear about what the goals are for your company and each department. Employees are more likely to be on the same page when working toward a common goal.

Office outcome: unity and teamwork.

2. Create a custom workspace. Take into account each employee’s role within your company. Are they constantly on the phone? Maybe they need an office. Do they consistently work in groups? Perhaps a shared table or pod formation might work better. The more their workspace is conducive to their everyday schedule, the better.

Office outcome: increased productivity.

3. Take the team out. Take the team out for lunch or order in. Gather all employees together to do anything but work. This can be very beneficial in making employees feel more comfortable with each other and appreciated by the company.

Office outcome: happiness and camaraderie.

4. Be transparent. Don’t try to sugarcoat things. Be as upfront and honest about your company as possible. Employees will value the candidness and it will make the leadership group seem more reliable.

Office outcome: trust.

5. Ask for feedback. Gathering opinions will benefit everyone. Employees will appreciate the opportunity to voice their opinions and their insight could lead to positive, meaningful changes.

Office outcome: mutual respect.
